What Is A Trial Burn?

Any facility that burns hazardous (chemical) waste must be permitted by the Federal, State and/or Local government.  Before they issue operating permits, these regulatory agencies require that the burning facilities comply with appropriate emission and performance standards.  Trial burns are performed to demonstrate that these standards are being met, and that pollutants in excess of limits set forth in the appropriate regulations are not being released to the air.
